Sundarbans National Park West Bengal

Sundarbans National Park West Bengal Located in Piyali in Eastern coast of India, the Sundarbans National Park, West Bengal is taken as one of the best wildlife destinations in India. Occupying over 1330.10 sq km, it is basically a vast marshy delta formed by the two grand Indian rivers, Brahmaputra and the Ganges expanding over areas inhabiting the mangrove forests, swamps and Forest Island and a crisscross of small rivers and brooks. Conserving a major bulk of the breed of wildlife in India, it is famously home to the Bengal Tiger, Ridley Sea Turtle. The largest mangrove forest in the world, the park was christened after Sundari trees, once available in abundance here.

Flora:
The glowing red leaves of the Genwa which bloom during April and May, border the emerald islands. The crab looking red flowers of the Kankara and the yellow flowers of Khalsi add to the dazzling display. The large flower habitat in Sundarbans comprises trees like Passur, Genwa, Garjan, Dhundal and Kankara.

Fauna:
Sundarbans National Park has been home to more than 200 Royal Bengal Tigers. Most famous of them all it is considered a treat of a lifetime to be blessed with a glimpse of the royal beast. The Fishing Cats, Macaques, Wild Boar, Common Grey Mongoose, Fox, Jungle Cat, Flying Fox, Pangolin, Chital are the other points of attraction in what is one of the greatest wildlife reserves in India - Sundarbans National Park.
